Star Wars Spaceballs Easter Egg

Star Wars fans can rejoice: season two of The Mandalorian is right around the corner. Disney recently released a trailer to work fans up into a frenzy, and it did just that. If you caught the trailer, you likely saw plenty of Star Wars Easter eggs. Many of them were easy to miss, however. Here's a guide to a few of the Easter eggs in the trailer that included references to past Star Wars lore.

What is 'The Mandalorian' about?

The Mandalorian follows the exploits of a bounty hunter and gunfighter who wears the armor of the Mandalorian warriors. He's given a job to bring in a mark, dead or alive, but when he finds it's a young child, he's unable to turn it over to the Empire.

The majority of season one is spent following Mando as he tries to protect the young one in his care while also outgunning a whole host of nefarious characters. Fans loved the show for the way it created something original in the Star Wars universe while still including plenty of references to the older films.

The Mandalorian's second season will hit Disney+ on October 30, but the trailer for it already has fans excited.

The trailer featured a callback to a scene from last season in which the Child (aka Baby Yoda) was revealed to be a Jedi, and that Mando would have to take him back to find his people. From there, we see multiple clips from season two that show Mando transporting the Child across multiple worlds in the galaxy.

Little is known about the precise storyline for season two, but Star Wars fans can't wait. The trailer gave them lots to chew on as well. There's plenty of rich details you may have missed if you weren't looking very closely.

The many Easter eggs from 'The Mandalorian' Season 2 trailer

Screen Rant recently compiled some Easter eggs caught in The Mandalorian season two trailer. Star Wars is known for its Easter eggs.

After many shows, comics, and movies have come out since the original trilogy, there have been countless references back to other Star Wars stories in these other properties. The Mandalorian is no different, and the show's creators packed plenty of details into the preview of the latest season.

Below are just a few of the Easter eggs they managed to include:

A bantha

A quick shot of a sand person riding a bantha means Mando will return to the desert planet of Tatooine. Not only is this the home of Luke and Anakin Skywalker, but it's also the location of the Mos Eisley spaceport. Mando spent one episode here in season one.

(Maybe) Starkiller Base

Mando's ship, the Razor Crest, flies to an icy planet with what looks like a massive crack or canyon in it. This looks like the planet Ilum, which later became Starkiller Base. This was destroyed by the Resistance in The Force Awakens.

Some familiar fishy friends

In one clip, Mando walks past a sea of faces that appear almost squid-like. This planet is almost assuredly Mon Cala, a sea-based world that includes two primary species: the Quarren and the Mon Calamari. This world has never appeared in a live action Star Wars show or movie before. You may recall the most famous Mon Calamari of all: Admiral Ackbar, hero to both the Rebel Alliance in the original trilogy and the Resistance in the sequels.

More TIE fighters

The Empire's signature ship is featured in this trailer. That means that it appears as though Mando will be yet again be unable to avoid any Imperial entanglement.
